They accept credit cards.
Yes they do! Various types!
Yes you can.
Coroni, it's well worth the trip to Red Hook. And pop on over to Steve's keylime pies & Valentino pier afterwards for an awesome view of the city!
Yes, they do.
Changed my entire opinion of what “good bbq” is. You have no idea if you haven’t been here. Worth the wait.
Delicious take away. Easy ordering process. Thanks for being open and being hospitable as always!
Great food. Period. My favorite BBQ spot in all of NYC. One of three restaurants. The lines can get crazy outside of quarantine but is totally worth it. We ordered food via the toast app and went to a nearby park by the water with great views of the river and Statue of Liberty. Great experience! My recommendations are the brisket and Korean sticky ribs. yum!!
Sooo good. Holy cow. Best bbq out of Texas. Long wait but so much fun. The drinks are amazing. They take credit cards. Everyone is chill. You wait on a really long line but it's totally worth it. Grab some drinks while you wait. Yum
Great food, ordered pick up and it was waiting for me when I arrived, The Best!!!
I've tried all of them and this is, hands down, the best BBQ in New York. Great southern BBQ, everything is just super tasty. Line can get very long, so try to avoid the busy hours. Don't miss out on their Corn Bread. 😋
Great bbq (from a Texan who knows bbq). Sides are delicious as well! Try the brisket tacos and/or Korean sticky ribs if ya feelin' adventurous. Amazing.
I adore this restaurant a lot. It has a special spirit. The meals are marvelous. the service is effective and the stuff is very professional. The cost is modest. deeply recommend.
DELICIOUSLY GOOD! This restaurant really has the best food offerings that you could have imagined. It would be my third time now to try this restaurant, and the people working around here always satisfy me, especially for the service and the foods that they provided. A truly wonderful place to dine together with your friends or family. Highly recommended!
This is a great spot for good barbecue and comfort food. It’s a big, open, friendly space filled with communal tables surrounding smaller, 4 seater tables. It’s very laid back, and has a comfortable, backyard bbq/cafeteria kind of feel. You order your food at the counter and take a number. Most of your food can be served immediately, but depending on what you order they may need a few extra minutes to prepare it, and then bring it to your table. There’s a full bar that’s completely separate. I would recommend ordering beer or a spirit in the rocks, but I happened to order a pear margarita and although I didn’t like it very much, my boyfriend said it was delicious. To each their own. 🤷🏻♀️ Over all, everything we ordered was good. My absolute favorite things were the chicken tacos, pulled pork, the corn bread, and Mac and cheese.
Hometown in Red Hook has always been worth the wait. I was excited to order takeout after months of social distancing and a proper quarantine to celebrate a birthday. The food was excellent, as always, but it was disappointing to see that--despite what were otherwise perfectly appropriate measures--not one person inside the restaurant/kitchen, aside from the nice guy at the front doorway handing out pick-up orders, was wearing a facial mask. I'll still go back, and can't wait to continue to visit the nearby Tavern, but expected more of these fine folks today.
Pretty good for what you'll find in this side of Brooklyn. There's some good places in other parts of NYC. Still nothing in comparison to what you find in other states, and this hurts being from NYC :/
It’s a very cool place to visit. The first time dine in before the pandemic was decent. But the second time for pulled pork sandwich wasn’t good unfortunately...
Great place for BBQ, their baby back ribs and brisket is just simply amazing! Highly recommend! My southern Gf loved this place and feel at home!
First time here. First off the food is delicious. Can’t really complain about the food my bf didn’t like the lamb sandwich so much but I enjoyed it. I think the tacos were my favorite. The only down fall of this place is that the line to order move soooo slow and it’s on the pricey side. The meal cost about 66 dollars I felt like it could have been about 10 dollars cheaper. But it was delicious. I just don’t see myself coming here at busy time the line to order food I can see it being triple the time of what I waited.
Hometown has been offering NYC the best BBQ in town for several years. Obviously they did they homework in Central Texas and added their own take of what NYC BBQ should taste like. The lines are long. It is worth the wait.
Great bbq food at reasonable prices. The space is huge with plenty of seating. Seems to have live band performances sometime. You order at the counter. The brisket is their staple, but I really enjoyed the pull pork. I recommend coming with a couple people to try as much of the menu as you can or make multiple visits.
Tried a few of the sandwiches and the brisket had the Mac & cheese and collard greens as sides. Basically the sandwiches or nothing to write home about except maybe the pulled pork which was above average. Mac & cheese was Velveeta and some red pepper mixed in with it to my taste buds. Yuck. But the collar greens was surprisingly done very well. So my recommendation is the pool pork sandwich in collar greens as a side. I will give them another shot with the brisket though because of the pandemic maybe their standards Are little off. But MAN Was that brisket like beef jerky. Yuck. But their sauces are really good. I might go back and buy a bottle or two if they have it for sale. I’ll stick with my favorite spot in Brooklyn and that is Fette Sau. Maybe no sandwiches but the meat is always done well.
Beef short rib has slight underseasoned crispy crust, while juicy and meaty with a subtle amount of smoke flavor.Brisket (Moist) has a layer of fat in the middle but is a little dry as there is no fat in between intersection of meat.Pork ribs is tender and moist but seasoning has little flavor.Lamb belly is seasoned well with spices but not enough fat to create an explosion of flavor.Overall, the food is delicious but not blown away. Hill Country Barbecue offers better smoked barbecue (personal opinion)
Food was delicious. Fantastic place to go to if you're craving BBQ. The Turkey was amazing. Recommend this to anybody. Found out about this place on YouTube.
This is a review for Hometown's catering. Hometown catered our wedding in August 2019 that took place at a venue in Brooklyn. We HIGHLY recommend them, and would/will absolutely use them again! Leading up to the wedding, the catering lead, Mel, was patient with all of our questions, updates and changes. She listened to and understood our vision, and came up with ideas that aligned with Hometown's expertise and what we were looking for. The food itself was FANTASTIC. Throughout the wedding we received so many compliments on the food (which is worth noting, given that wedding food is sometimes so-so). The food was served family style, and looked beautiful. Again, highly recommend Hometown BBQ.
Super tasty bbq, nice live music - not as cozy as anticipated though. Table needs better cleaning.
The takeout experience leaves a lot to be desired. And you suddenly realize how expensive it is. Wait until the pandemic is over.
This place is the real deal. It's expensive, sure, but the food here actually beats some of the spots I've eaten at in Dallas and Austin. Arrive early to beat the lines. We got there about 20 minutes before open and just beat the crowds and we're 2nd in line. Line got drastically longer even just 5 minutes before opening.Pulled pork was flavorful and tender, although a bit more fatty than I prefer. Turkey was amazingly juicy and nicely smoked, I wish I had ordered more. Cornbread was OK, but super dry and crumbly. Mac and cheese was great, but not what I was expecting. It's made with queso which wasn't as creamy as you'd hope Mac and cheese to be. Lastly, banana pudding was great, but very small portion size for the price. All in all, I'd come back. At $48 for the meal pictured here it certainly isn't the best bang for your buck, but it sure was damn delicious
It was my first time here at hometown, and I can't say anything less than amazing. At first when you walk in it throws you off a little because you have to stand in line to order your food . The place has a really nice vibe and the food was amazing. The pastrami bacon and briskets cut like butter. The chicken wings were really spicy which I loved because I tend to lean towards spicy food and the Jamaica jerk ribs had a very distinct flavor. I can honestly say I'd love to go back and try the rest of the menu
Superb BBQ! The pulled pork and brisket are top notch! BUT, if you haven't tried the turkey breast and you're not (deathly) allergic than you need to try it, cause its going to blow your trousers off! I'm eating a pound of this stuff a night and I guarantee that after you try it you're going to go from thinking I'm a raving turkey lunatic to preaching the same good word I am right now! ITS GOBBLE GOBBLE GOOD!...Anyway, foods great, people are great, line gets long sometimes but its worth it and you can always order ahead. Five starts isn't really enough.
I’ve been a huge Hometown fan over the years, but I must say today I was a tad disappointed. The beef ribs I got were not as meaty and the brisket was tough. I understand that these are tough times and the takeout experience is not the same as the dine in, but by the same token the pricing hasn’t changed, so I expect a similar product food-wise (as someone who usually orders to-go anyway). The 4 star is a one notch upgrade from what the food actually was today due to how good I know they can be.
Fantastic BBQ! Everything is house made and no matter what you get you can’t go wrong, it will be very good! Your clothes will have delicious BBQ smell until you wash it. Love the cornbread here, it’s very different to anything else I have tried. Can’t even compare this place to near by BBQ establishments.
Order ahead through their website for pickup or al fresco dining during the pandemic.
^^^^I Dont Get It^^^^On my first visit over a year ago I had a great time, food and service was excellent. But recently I paid a visit to this place with high expectations but I was disappointed very fast.I ordered a full rack of baby back ribs Hot sausage Pastrami BaconMash potatoes 1- Ribs were cold. I took most them home2- to much vinegar on the mash potatoes if that's what they put in it...Sorry...it went straight to the garbage ☹The bacon and the sausage saved the dayThey were delicious Service was good . Great service at the bar.
I had a not-so-nice experience at this place. The gentleman at the bar exhibited a clear racist attitude. I stood there as he tended to three other people of another ethic group approached the bar. He ignored me until he had served 3 patrons who stepped up after me. He was as cold as ice. I asked for a manager 2x, to no avail. The 3rd time I asked, I was told, "they were not there." Hmmm. I was late and they were cleaning up. Not the service I'm used to but I let it go because obviously, they were not in the mood to address my concerns. Probably will not be going back.
The food was SO good, absolutely delicious. The brisket was so tender and flavorful, the mac and cheese was so good. Everything was delicious! And we were so full, we had to take the rib home. Don't underestimate their rib, their ribs are like a foot long and at least three inches thick, but still so delightfully yummy!
Absolutely delicious. Highly recommended. Just be prepared to wait at least an hour closer to two for your food. Get their early because once they run out of something it done for the day. Only got a picture of the Fritos bag bowl bc was too hungry!
This is an old friend that had a genius idea And made a dream come true. He made the ultimate barbecue spot. The brisk the wings it just melts in your mouth. We even have Christmas parties happen here that’s how good the food is.
The food is constantly fresh and delicious, staff members gives great service. I love the cleanliness and character. I highly recommend this spot.
I simply enjoy their dishes. I always get good customer service there. The place is well kept and the workers are always nice. Will visit here again.
Hometown BBQ catered our daughter's wedding. If you've ever eaten at the restaurant you know why we chose them to cater the wedding of 170 people. The food and service were as good as you get. We and our guests appreciated that we had a formal affair with better than the usual wedding food. The only problem is that we had to provide the serving pieces and linens.
Real deal BBQ here... You can smell the wood smoke down the block... I had brisket sandwich with baked beans... Words won't do justice ya have to taste it to know how good... Everything looks that good. There's a line waiting for it to open at lunch time so be ready to wait but it's worth it and staff keeps line moving... They are great.
The bbq was good nothing really special the reason for the 3 star review is because it’s extremely expensive. 15$ for a sandwich without a side is pricey. The corn bread was good but not worth $5. A large Mac and cheese (pictured) is $10. the staff was friendly and place was clean. This lunch cost my friend and I $60 with the two sodas.
Tasty options for anyone regardless of their culinary preferences, though definitely more of a meat-eater’s paradise. Comfy seating for dining, as well as a big bar if that’s more your speed. Definitely worth the trip down to Red Hook (and a great stop to fuel your IKEA trip).
This is probably the best barbecue in NYC, hands down. It’s quite a bit out of the way and there was a huge line on a Saturday afternoon (over an hour!), but the food ended up being well worth the wait. They have multiple bars and we were drinking beers and Bloody Mary’s while we waited. The Korean style ribs were really good. I also loved the Mac and cheese. The banana pudding was also amazing.
Food was delicious. Fantastic place to go to if you're craving BBQ. The Turkey was amazing.Highly recommend! My southern friend loved this place and feel at home!
This restaurant is a very good choice for fine dining or simply hanging out. Spanish foods are superb and cooked to almost perfection. The staff is equally hospitable and the kind that knows the job they are doing. The interior design of the restaurant provides a cozy and romantic ambiance for a couple's dates, family gatherings, or business meetings.
So delicious! I went here late on a Friday night and most of their meat options were sold out. I was a little disappointed at first, but what I had made up for that. The mac and cheese was awesome! They have pinto beans as a new menu item. Try them! They're so good. The wings were good, but spicy. If you're not a fan of heat, I'd order something else. The brisket was tender and the BBQ sauce complimented it very well. I can't wait to go back.
Hometown is LEGIT BBQ in NYC that can compete with best southern BBQ restaurants on quality of food and atmosphere. The brisket is very high quality and smoked perfectly while the Korean Ribs are like crack. Can't recommend this place enough. Just expect a long wait on weekend evenings...
Get your BBQ craving fixed in this place! As my go to is Pastrami & Beef Brisket. I am sure others stuff are also great as these my favorite 2Come early to beat the crowd!
For some time I wanted to go to your restaurant but the lines were always long, so I decided to order food online and picked it up.While driving home the food was smelling so good in my car and I could not wait to open the bag and enjoy the food. Boy was I disappointed. I tried the potato salad and took one spoon full and threw it in the garbage I don't know who came up with the concept of whipping it to look like mashed potatoes. I also ordered banana pudding and it is not prepared in the traditional way, it was literally just pudding and the portions are tiny and very expensive. But I must say the brisket was ok but was cold when I opened it up.
Food is amazing. A little pricey but probably some of the best collard greens I've ever had. Decor is more like a picnic with paper plates and plastic utensils but I like i said b4, food is amazing.
We drove by looking for lunch and are so happy we found this place! Best brisket, potato salad, and Mac and cheese we’ve ever had! My whole group agreed. We came, ate too much and can’t wait to return!
Rock solid, steady and delicious. Definatly essential!!
